Stroud Green Olive Oil

Stroud Green Olive Oil is produced from a mixture of green and black olives harvested each November in the Aventino Valley, a river valley close to the Majella Mountains in the central Italian province of Abruzzo. The olives are harvested by hand, then taken for milling at an award-winning state-of-the-art centrifugal oil mill close by. The oil is brought to London, bottled and labelled in Stroud Green

Part of our oil is from our own small olive garden, and if there is demand we also purchase oil from our neighbours. All the olives are organically grown and treated in exactly the same way, and we know the producers personally, who have harvested using traditional methods for generations. The Aventino Valley is within a DOP ('Denominazione di Origine Protetta’) area, designated as a region for the production of high quality olive oil. Our trees are lechino variety, thought to be about 100 years old.

Our smallholding and holiday home, Casa della Meridiana, is in quiet countryside at 700 metres on the flanks of the Majella Mountain range, and about 30 kilometres from the Adriatic Sea. The house is on the edge of Italy’s largest area of national park and nature reserve and is noted for its tranquil location and outstanding views, but within easy reach of historic towns and hilltop villages. The house is available for inexpensive rental.
